Language learning is a journey

I offer a unique approach to language teaching through real-life experiences and individualized attention.

From language student to language teacher – I know where you’re coming from! I, too, was once in your shoes, starting with an English language holiday for a couple of weeks, and right after it, I decided I should go the whole hog and spend a year in England, working and learning in situ - no half-measures! So, I arrived in London one fine April day in 1986 from Wuppertal in Germany, and the rest, as they say, is history.

My career path has been multi-directional ... well, variety is the spice of life, isn't it? After working as a bilingual PA to a managing director for one year in the capital, I moved down to St Ives in Cornwall and ran a guesthouse right next to Porthmeor Beach with my partner, before studying for a BA honours degree at Falmouth University. I then worked in various sectors, such as education, marketing, the arts, and public relations, before going it alone as a freelance translator, proofreader, and copywriter.

In 2013 I finally realized my dream of teaching English by the seaside – an idea that had been germinating since 1992, the year I gained my TEFL* qualification! *Teaching English as a Foreign Language

My Mission

Yes, I have made it my mission to deliver English courses with a difference, so that you can Learn English in Cornwall that will make you gain confidence and lose your inhibition to speak. I want you to have an experience that will stay with you forever.

I want to show you all the spots and see the things that a normal tourist may not get to see, giving you the benefit of my local insider's knowledge.

How do I do this?

By being open and open-minded,

by never taking on more than 2 students at a time,

by sharing what I learned on my own journey,

by being me.
